CAD Home Crafters is a true custom home builder — not a production builder with a catalog of preset floor plans. Founded by Chris and Abby Johnson in 2013, we build every home from the ground up around your vision, your lot, and your lifestyle. You work directly with Chris and Abby throughout the entire process, and no two homes we build are exactly alike.
Where does CAD Home Crafters build?

Do I need to already own land to get started?
Not at all. One of the things that sets CAD Home Crafters apart is our ability to help you find and acquire the right piece of land before a single plan is drawn. Chris works with clients to identify lots that fit their vision, budget, and lifestyle — whether that’s a quiet country setting, a wooded homesite, or a neighborhood lot.

Every CAD Home Crafters build follows a proven, transparent process. Here is exactly what to expect.
Every CAD Home Crafters home begins with a conversation. We’ll talk through your vision, your needs, your timeline, and your budget. This is where we get to know you and you get to know us. Chris and Abby will answer your questions and help you understand what’s possible.
If you don’t already own a lot, this is where we start. CAD Home Crafters leverages local market knowledge and industry relationships to help you find buildable land that fits your vision and budget. We’ll walk the property with you, evaluate the site, and explain any factors — soil, utilities, zoning — that could affect your build.
Once you have your land, Chris works with you to develop a fully custom home plan built around your lot and your lifestyle. We don’t work from a template. Every floor plan, every room dimension, every structural detail is designed with your family in mind. This phase includes architectural plans, site planning, and a detailed scope of work.
While the structural plans come together, Abby Johnson guides you through every finish selection — flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile, fixtures, lighting, hardware, and paint palettes. Her goal is to make sure every room feels cohesive, beautiful, and distinctly yours. This is one of the most exciting parts of the process.
CAD Home Crafters handles all permitting and pre-construction coordination on your behalf. We work with local municipalities, engineers, and inspectors to ensure everything is in order before the first shovel hits the ground.
This is where the dream becomes reality. CAD Home Crafters manages every phase of construction — foundation, framing, mechanical systems, insulation, drywall, and all finishes. Chris is on-site and actively involved throughout the build, ensuring quality and craftsmanship at every stage.
You’ll never be left wondering what’s happening with your home. CAD Home Crafters provides regular construction updates so you’re always informed and involved. We believe communication is the foundation of a great client relationship.
As your home nears completion, we conduct a thorough walkthrough with you to review every detail. Any final adjustments are made before we hand over the keys.
